The Right One(s)

You don’t have to do it all on your own! I believe in this so strongly that I made coaching an embedded part of our Business Mamas Diploma of Business, and now also offer it separately. But coaches aside, you are undoubtedly surrounded by people, and whether you realise it or not, they are having a massive impact on you and your business.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been talking about self-doubt, and how to overcome it. I’ve already told you about finding your WHY and accepting your fears, and here’s my third and last way: surrounding yourself with the right people.

Let’s face it: there’s no such thing as a perfect relationship. So what am I saying? Get rid of everyone who isn’t cutting it? Not at all! Even imperfect relationships can bring us great joy, meaning, and purpose.

You do, however, need to exercise real judgement about the people you allow into your business dreams and life. In order to shut down that voice in your mind that keeps popping up,  questioning your abilities, your ideas, and your likelihood of success, you need to surround yourself with people who:

1. Support your change into a business mama, and just as importantly,

2. Have business experience. You may have wonderful people in your life who love you to bits – but they may not be the best people to provide business advice (and you will need business advice, no matter how much you learn)!

You need to talk to people who have done it before. When you are moving out of your comfort zone, or making any change for that matter, you are at your most vulnerable. You will want and need validation; you will be delicate and sensitive about any feedback. Stretch yourself to connect with new people – they are out there, and they will be integral both to quietening your self-doubt and ensuring your success.

However, it’s not all about surrounding yourself with a cheering squad! The last thing you need is people whose only job is to make you feel good. You also need to be around people who can give you valuable feedback as well as encouragement. They will challenge and stretch you, and even when it’s uncomfortable, both you and your business will be better for it.

So that’s it: with a big WHY, a healthy attitude towards fear, and the right people around you, you can banish self-doubt and be well on your way to a new business and having the life you want.

So what are you waiting for? Go for it, business mama, and if you’d like to know how we can help you achieve your dreams, get in touch!
